Guest Posting Guidelines
Thanks for your interest in being a guest on The Novel Smithy! I’m always excited to have new writers come on board and to introduce them to this site’s audience.
If you’re looking to submit a guest post, start by sending me an email through my contact page. In your message, introduce yourself and send me a link to your blog or other published work. This is also where you can share ideas for topics you’d like to write about. Once I’ve approved the topic for your post, make sure to follow these guidelines:
Length: Your post should be a minimum of 800 words.
Topic: It should be written specifically for fiction writers, and should be designed to inspire or educate readers about your chosen topic.
Links: Please link to at least two relevant posts from The Novel Smithy’s blog in the text of your post. You may include up to two additional links to your own site as well.
Style: Make sure your post matches the style of other articles on this site. Include a short, two paragraph introduction, at least two relevant subheadings, and a conclusion. I recommend browsing my most recent articles to see this in action.
Promotion: Include an author bio with a photo and link to your website, and up to two additional links to your other projects (books, social media, et cetera).

Once I’ve received your post and it goes live, I’ll send it out as an email to my mailing list and promote it through my social media channels. If you’d like to submit a guest post, please keep these points in mind:
Exclusivity: Your guest post should be unique to The Novel Smithy. It cannot be published elsewhere, either before or after being posted on this site.
Copyright: Any content you send to be posted on The Novel Smithy must be yours and yours alone. You may not pass off others’ copyrighted work as your own.
Deadlines: Please send your article as an attachment via email on the agreed upon date, usually one to two weeks before the post goes live. Most guest posts are published on Tuesdays at 6:00AM EST.
Editing: I reserve the right to make revisions to your article to fix spelling, formatting, SEO, and other minor problems to ensure the best experience for my readers.
Timing: I typically plan content two to three months in advance, meaning I might not be able to post your article right away. If you’d like your article to go live at a specific time, let me know sooner rather than later!
If you have any questions about these guidelines, don’t hesitate to get in touch via my contact page! Or, browse past guest posts here.
