How I Published My Second Book in 14 Days

Four months ago, I began writing my second book.

I had just finished publishing The Ten Day Outline a few days prior, and I was feeling confident that the lessons I had learned would carry over to its sequel, The Ten Day Draft. Everything would go more smoothly, I would have a better plan in place, and overall the process would be a bit less hectic—not so.

Not only did this second book present entirely new challenges, but it taught me a lot of harsh lessons about my first book as well. I’m still deeply proud of how The Ten Day Draft turned out, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t throw me for a loop. These are the lessons I learned publishing my second book in only fourteen days.

We all dream of the day we’ll hold our finished novel.

Yet for many of us, that day only seems to get further away. Our lives are busy as it is, and writing a novel takes a lot of dedication. As a result, we just keep putting it off—until eventually we give up, resigning ourselves to the fact that we’ll never have “enough time.”

Whenever I tell people that The Ten Day Draft will help them write the first draft of their novel in only ten days, I almost always get the same reaction: surprise, or maybe even confusion. It seems no one believes they can write fast enough to keep up with this quick pace.
